Site Expert Mike Lombardi Journalist and columnist in the IT field. Website creator and administrator. Ask a question Ask an expert I want to transfer a Word entry from a local computer to a remote computer. For some reason AnyDesk doesn’t copy the text, clipboard doesn’t work. How to solve this error? Both PCs have Windows 10 installed. If you use Windows devices for remote access, you can use the standard hotkeys Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V to copy and paste text from the local PC to the remote PC. If the text on the clipboard cannot be pasted into AnyDesk, you need to make changes to the program’s settings.

First, log in to AnyDesk accounts on both devices, then click the menu button on the top right corner, go to «Settings» – «Security».

FIX: Unable to copy and paste in Remote Desktop connection on Windows 11/10/8/7 operating system.

  1. Enable the Clipboard feature in Remote Desktop.
  2. Terminate the rdpclip.exe process.
  3. Enable clipboard redirection on the client computer.
  4. Allow clipboard redirection on the remote computer.
  5. Enable Remote Desktop Copy/Paste in Group Policy.

Enabling unattended access

Some users reported that creating sessions through unattended access resolved their keyboard issues. Unattended access allows users to connect to a remote client without sending a session request to the client. This feature is best suited for users who work partially remotely and want to avoid taking their work computer with them wherever they go. They can easily access the remote computer regardless of whether it is turned on or in sleep mode.

  1. To enable unattended access in AnyDesk, follow the steps below:
  2. Open AnyDesk and click the three horizontal lines in the upper right corner of the screen.
  3. From the options, select «Settings».
  4. Click on «Security» and go to the «Permissions Profile» section.
  5. Expand the dropdown menu and select «Unattended Access».
  6. Click the «Set Password…» button and enter and re-enter the password.
  7. Click «Apply» to complete the process.

Windows 2022, 2018, and 2016

In these versions of Windows, these settings are controlled within Group Policy.

  1. Start «gpedit.msc».
  2. Go to «Computer Configuration» > «Administrative Templates» > «Windows Components» > «Remote Desktop Services» > «Remote Desktop Session Host».
  3. Make sure «Do not allow clipboard redirection» is set to «Not configured» or «Disabled».

AnyDesk mouse does not work.

Make sure «Control my computer’s keyboard and mouse» is checked. In some cases, starting AnyDesk as an administrator on the remote side can resolve this issue.

If you find that the Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V hotkeys do not work, please enable the following options: “Control my computer keyboard and mouse”, “Access my computer clipboard”, “Access my computer’s clipboard to transfer files” on the Security tab.
